Hello Fellow Marketer,
Imagine you’re a single man posting an online dating profile. All the desirable women have inboxes overflowing with competitive pitches (not unlike your marketing prospects). How can you step up your game?
It’s tempting to start over-pimping your typography in an effort to make points stand out. Many overuse color, capitals, underscoring, boldface, italics – like what’s shown (exaggerated) on the left...
But observe how things can quickly get out of hand. Any sane woman would click right past that creepy emphatic mess. It undermines credibility and results in nothing really standing out anyway.
Now have a look at the approach on the right. It demonstrates restraint and implies confidence. This is how a typographic player handles things.
It’s unbecoming of a marketer to drool their desperation for a sale all over the prospect. I’d suggest trying to win her over with more subtle game.
Best, -Todd
